Rooftop Solar Installation
The Australian Energy Council (AEC) has released its Quarterly Solar Report showing that approximately 109,000 solar systems have been installed in the second quarter of 2021, with an average unit size of systems reaching 8.06 kW in June.
In the 2019/2020 financial year, 323,500 installations were added to the grid. This financial year saw 373,000 installations added to the grid with almost every state hitting records for the number of solar panels installed. Surges in installations can be attributed to consumers seeking greater control over their energy generation and consumption.
The Covid-19 Pandemic adversely affected many businesses and industries, however the Australian rooftop solar PV industry seemingly prospered. In the midst of the pandemic, low technology costs, an increase in working from home, and a shift in household spending to home improvements accounted for the increase in solar rooftop PV installations.
